I was delighted to be asked to step into the large black oxfords of the Major today and will do my level best to make him proud of me.
Today is the first day of the teacher’s rolling strike here in BC. Each day this week a certain number of targeted districts will have their schools shut down.
I would like to see a report from both sides as to what the entire package being offered and asked, looks like. How much are the teachers demanding in new salary which includes their entire set of extras (pensions, dental, medical, seniority, days off, holidays and sick days)? Plus the cost of smaller classrooms and special ed. Then what is the offer from the government side, including everything that I have just mentioned?
Let us have the full knowledge of what is involved here as I am in the dark. Everyone is shouting so loudly about respect and the bargaining table, that we cannot tell what is what is anymore. I am sure everyone would like to have a gander at the economic consequences. Yes?
Just asking.
