What a day in Vancouver…Blessed sunshine and very warm for a heavy blazer and snug regimental tie. Over to the Vancouver Club for a slap up breakfast with no suggestion of a dry martini. I was asked to make a speech as usual and I had prepared a humdinger going by its reception.
I talked about a feeling of uselessness creeping over us all when we are still in fighting trim although may not look it. I mean we continue have all our marbles and I for one still think that perhaps, just perhaps I might yet have something to contribute. I ended with a quote from Dylan Thomas :
“Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage,rage against the dying of the light.”
